- 13 Seats Open, Watch for eBallot Emails
TAB's annual Board of Directors elections open May 12 with a call for nominations to fill 13 of the 37 seats representing Radio and TV stations and other membership classes. The process is entirely electronic, and members should watch for emails from "eBallot" to submit nominations which are due May 27.
Members will receive reminder emails from eBallot throughout the nominations period, followed by final ballots listing the top two nominees for each seat. The process ends with the announcement of results at the TAB Show in Austin Aug. 5-6.
Board Member Responsibilities
The large number of directors reflects the size of the state and TAB's desire to ensure that stations in all market sizes and with different operating structures are represented in the volunteer leadership roles.
Board members meet four times each year, with a mix of in-person meetings at the TAB office in Austin and virtual meetings.
Directors advise TAB staff on member services and legislative policy, provide fiduciary oversight for the association, and assist with all major organizational efforts, including the PEP program, advocacy efforts in Austin and DC, and membership recruitment.
Board members are not compensated or reimbursed for traveling to meetings, nor do they receive complimentary admission to TAB events, but TAB does cover costs for traveling to Washington, DC, for targeted advocacy efforts.
2025-2026 TAB Board of Directors
Open Seats
Three Radio directors are up for re-election, including one each in the small, medium and large market categories, while a fourth Radio seat is wide open resulting from term limits. The term-limited seat is in the small market category.
A total of five TV seats are in play. Two TV directors are eligible for re-election in the large market category, while one seat in the "other" market category is open because of term limits. Two seats in the "at-large" category are set to be filled, one because of term limits and the other because of retirement.
Elections will be held for three additional seats, including non-commercial, retired/pioneer (also known as Golden Mic), and Associate Members.
Members also will vote on the slate of officers which typically involves the advancement of each current officer and selection of a new member to serve as Secretary.
Members interested in running for a seat on the TAB Board are encouraged and welcome to contact any TAB Board member or TAB President Oscar Rodriguez for insight into the workload and expectations.
