Oct. 8, 2025 - Northeastern Colorado - Upgrades will occur along US 36 and CO 7 in Lyons and Boulder
Boulder County - The Colorado Department of Transportation and contract partner Goodland Construction, Inc. will begin an Americans with Disabilities Act curb ramp replacement project in mid October.
Work will occur at 24 intersections along US Highway 36 in the Town of Lyons and City of Boulder and four intersections on Colorado Highway 7 in the Town of Lyons. The project is expected to be completed by late March.
The project will happen in two phases, and each intersection will take approximately four to five days to complete.

This project will improve existing curb ramps, pedestrian push buttons and signals, gutters and sidewalks so they are safer and more accessible for pedestrians and people who depend on mobility devices to travel. These improvements will comply with Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines Requirements, ensuring all current standards are met and pedestrian safety and accessibility are enhanced.
Travel Impacts

Typical work hours range from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday

Motorists can expect various single lane closures and shoulder closures within the work areas

Curb ramps will be temporarily inaccessible while upgrades are being made
-
Please drive safely through the work area when crews are present

Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.

Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.

Watch for workers. Drive with caution.

Don't change lanes unnecessarily.

Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.

Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.

Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.

Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.

Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.

Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
