UPDATE - Shooting - West Gate City Boulevard

GREENSBORO, NC (August 3, 2026) - Greensboro Police have charged two High Point men who were in the area of the shooting early Sunday on West Gate City Boulevard that injured multiple people.

GPD detectives are still working through the investigation to identify who was responsible for the shooting inside the Royal Banquet Hall at 1:50 a.m. Sunday.

Responding officers took two men into custody who were in the area of the shooting:

Carlos Withers, 21, of High Point, was charged with:

  • Going armed to the terror of the people
  • Discharge of a firearm in the city limits
  • Injury to personal property

Edward Trey Lindsay III, 24, of High Point, was charged with:

  • Going armed to the terror of the people

The investigation is ongoing. Detectives encourage anyone with video or additional information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.

The Greensboro Police Department will provide support from Victim Services and the Office of Community Engagement's faith partners to those affected by the shooting early Sunday. These victims, mostly older teens and young adults, will need support while processing the traumatic events around this shooting.

We can confirm that the two shooting victims with the most serious injuries remain hospitalized as of this afternoon.

Our department will continue to share updates with our community as additional information becomes available for release.
