Big Idea Ventures Announces Follow-On Investment in Standing Ovation

March 2026 - Big Idea Ventures today announced a follow-on investment in Standing Ovation's €30 million Series B, reinforcing its early conviction in precision fermentation and its role in scaling the next generation of protein production. Big Idea Ventures first invested in the company's Series A round in 2022 and is continuing its support as the company scales toward global commercialization.

The €30 million Series B financing was led by the Ecotechnologies 2 fund, managed by Bpifrance on behalf of the French government under the France 2030 initiative, and Crédit Mutuel Innovation, with continued support from existing investors and participation from new strategic partners. The funding will enable Standing Ovation to accelerate industrial scale-up, advance regulatory approvals, and expand commercial partnerships. This round reflects increasing alignment between government, industry, and capital to scale new production systems for the food sector.

Standing Ovation develops animal-free proteins that replicate the functional properties of dairy proteins without relying on animal agriculture. Using precision fermentation, the company is building a new production model for key protein ingredients as global demand for protein continues to rise.

Since Big Idea Ventures' initial investment, Standing Ovation has achieved major technical and commercial milestones. In 2025, the company reached industrial-scale production of its casein ingredient and other proteins, marking an important step in the transition of precision fermentation from research and development toward early industrial deployment.. The company has also established strategic collaborations with global industry leaders including Bel Group and Tetra Pak.
