Fall Fun Returns to Oxon Hill Farm With Free Festival Oct. 17

OXON HILL, Md. - The National Park Service will host a free, family-friendly fall festival at Oxon Hill Farm on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature live music, sheepdog demonstrations, line dancing, pumpkin painting and a community showcase highlighting local organizations.

The festival opens at 10 a.m. with Grammy-nominated artist Groovy Nate, whose shows feature a loop station, electric guitar, exotic instruments, puppet skits, comedy and interactive play.

At 10:45 a.m. noon, and 1 p.m., AJ Hesketh-Tutton will present sheepdog demonstrations showing how trained dogs guide sheep using voice and whistle commands.

At 11:15 a.m., DMV Pressure, a local saddle club rooted in horseback riding and southern soul line dancing, will lead a line dancing demonstration for all ages.

The final performance begins at 2 p.m. with the Tribe Band, featuring gospel, blues, smooth jazz, funk, R&B, soul, Motown, southern soul and neo-soul.

Parking is limited at Oxon Hill Farm. Visitors are encouraged to park at the Oxon Hill Park and Ride, about a half-mile away. A free shuttle will run to and from the lot.

Visit the farm animals - chickens, goats, horses, cattle and hogs - or take a walk and look for bald eagles and wild turkeys.
