City Opens Application Period for Home Repair GSO Grant Program on August 17

The Home Repair GSO grant program returns to address repair needs of low-income homeowners in Greensboro. Beginning on Monday, August 17, qualifying residents may apply for assistance up to $20,000 to cover critical home repair projects. Submissions will be accepted until 4 pm on Friday, September 18, or until 20 completed and approved applications are received.

Through a combination of federal Community Development Block Grant funds and City Bonds, the program supports repair projects for eligible low-income homeowners to improve safety, accessibility, and the long-term condition of their homes. City Council approved program guideline modifications in July. Since its initial launch, the program has facilitated repair projects in 92 homes. This application cycle will assist 20 eligible households. Another application period will open after the first 20 applicants have completed the program.

Applicants must be homeowners within city limits and have a household income at or below 80% of the area median income. Examples of repair projects include, but are not limited to:
