City Invites Residents to Share Ideas for Safer Streets

The City of Goodyear is inviting residents to help shape the future of roadway safety at a Road Safety Action Plan open house on Tuesday, March 4, at the Goodyear Recreation Center, 420 S. Estrella Pkwy., between 6-7:30 p.m.

The Road Safety Action Plan is designed to reduce serious crashes and fatalities on Goodyear roadways. The plan will serve as a long-term blueprint for improving safety for all roadway users including drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists. As part of the process, the city is analyzing crash data to develop hot-spot maps that pinpoint areas with the greatest safety concerns. Community feedback will complement this analysis by highlighting real world experiences, concerns and suggestions from those who frequently travel Goodyear streets.

"Every person who travels on a Goodyear roadway should get where they're going safely," said Goodyear Mayor Joe Pizzillo. "The Road Safety Action Plan reflects our commitment to proactive planning, smart investments and community-driven solutions that protect drivers, pedestrians and cyclists."

The final plan will outline prioritized transportation safety projects and strategies the city can implement through federal, state, regional and local funding programs. Potential improvements may include education and enforcement efforts, speed limit and traffic signal timing adjustments, and infrastructure upgrades such as enhanced pedestrian walkways, bike lanes and center medians.

Residents who are unable to attend the open house can share their feedback and suggestions by visiting goodyearsafestreets.com and taking the roadway survey or leaving a comment.
