SSSI in force for Orencia (abatacept) shortages

Published 16 May 2024

The TGA has asked for information to be shared with AMA members on the latest Serious Scarcity Substitution Instrument.

To help manage the shortage of the Orencia (abatacept) 125 mg single dose syringe and the 125 mg ClickJect autoinjector for subcutaneous injection, the TGA has made a Serious Scarcity Substitution Instrument- external site(SSSI).

The SSSI starts on 15 May 2024 and allows a pharmacist to substitute one product for the other if appropriate, without a new prescription from the prescriber.
