2026 Summer Intern Spotlight: Global Perspectives

Point72 operates across the globe, and so does our intern class. This summer, we sat down with three of our interns from Tokyo, Warsaw, and Hong Kong to hear about the work they're taking on, the teams they're part of, and what it's like working in our global offices.

Tell me about yourself and your role at the firm this summer.

Yota: I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and currently study business at Babson College just outside Boston, Massachusetts. This summer, I am interning in Point72's Tokyo office as part of the Point72 Academy.

Maria: I'm from Warsaw and am a second-year student at Warsaw University of Technology, studying computer science. I'm interning this summer on the Infrastructure Automation team within Technology.

Rick: I am originally from China, and I just finished my third year at Imperial College London, majoring in biomedical technology ventures. This summer, I am working as an Equities Management intern in the Hong Kong office, within Vision Point.

Walk us through your day-to-day. What projects are you working on this summer?

Yota: I'm currently going through rotations and working directly with a PM team. My day begins with catching up on overnight market developments and considering how they might impact the companies we follow. I then join team meetings where I learn how my team evaluates new information and refines investment theses. From there, I spend most of my time researching a company assigned by my PM, building financial models, conducting due diligence, and pressure-testing my investment thesis. At the end of the day, I check in with my PM to discuss my findings and get constructive feedback on my work.

Maria: I spend a lot of my time in team meetings, learning about the technology and infrastructure initiatives underway. I'm getting familiar with internal applications, workflows, and where our team can help automate processes and improve efficiency. I'm also being introduced to several projects across the team, and I'm currently focused on enhancing an AI tool that helps automate routine tasks and free up time for higher-value priorities.

Rick: My mornings are spent monitoring how the market moves and receiving updates from the trading desk. After, I speak with PMs and analysts to understand what kinds of insights they would find useful, tying into my key project this summer: building a dashboard to track Compliance approved alternative data and give investment teams a unique perspective on the market. I actually have a floor meeting today that will use the dashboard I built; it's really rewarding to see my tool being used in practice.

Is there anything about your role or the work you're doing that has surprised you?

Yota: What surprised me most is that the more deeply I research a company's fundamentals, the more questions I uncover. There is always more research I could do, so a big part of the process is learning which questions matter most and where to focus my time. Finding the right balance between being thorough and using my time effectively has been one of the most valuable lessons for me this summer.

Maria: I wasn't expecting to have so much information at my fingertips. I'm able to see the full scope of the applications and internal workflows the team is involved in. It's a lot of data to absorb, but leaning on my teammates and the other interns has really helped with the learning curve.

Rick: It surprised me how entrepreneurial the firm is. I have a meaningful level of ownership over my projects. Rather than following rigid guidelines, a lot of my work involves talking to different people, including PMs, traders, and quant teams, to help shape the direction of my project.

How has collaborating with a global team during your internship shaped your perspective and experience?

Yota: I had the opportunity to visit our Hong Kong office and meet with teams from across APAC. Speaking with people from other offices showed me firsthand how the same company can be viewed from different angles. That experience has pushed me to stay open-minded in my own research.

Maria: The technology team here is truly global, and I've seen that from day one. Most of my team is abroad, so it's been a great experience to work with people around the world with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Rick: Hong Kong is such a cosmopolitan city, and that shapes the office as well. We have many colleagues hailing from various parts of the world, and I've benefited greatly from hearing their varying views through my conversations with them.

What's the culture like in your office?

Yota: The culture in the Tokyo office is supportive. Many of the people I work with were Academy interns themselves, so they understand the learning curve firsthand. They're willing to answer questions and offer guidance, but they also give me the room to push myself and learn from mistakes.

Maria: The Warsaw office's atmosphere has been incredibly welcoming. It's easy to connect with people across many teams and there's a genuine willingness to help. That environment has made it much easier to settle in and learn.

Rick: The level of mentorship you see here is inspiring. Even as an intern, I am encouraged to take on a high level of ownership to produce innovative ideas and test different approaches.

What do you enjoy most about the city where you are working this summer?

Yota: Even having grown up here, Tokyo is a city where there's always something new to experience. I've always loved the food here, and this summer I've had the chance to enjoy it with my team, which has been a nice way to get to know them outside the office.

Maria: Warsaw has so much to offer. There are lots of outdoor activities to enjoy in the summer, such as open-air cinemas, outdoor concerts in the parks, and late-night food markets. It always feels lively here.

Rick: Hong Kong has a great energy where everything moves fast, much like the financial industry. It's exciting to be in a city that's so connected to the global capital markets, where you can feel that momentum firsthand.
