The letter, addressed to Secretary Howard Lutnick, underscores the vital role copper plays in American recreational marine manufacturing and encourages a targeted and thoughtful approach to any potential trade actions.

Copper is a critical material used in numerous marine applications-from propulsion systems and fuel components to navigation wiring and air conditioning systems. NMMA highlighted that thousands of small and mid-sized marine businesses depend on affordable and reliable access to copper to build high-quality, American-made boats and accessories. With 95% of boats sold in the U.S. made domestically, copper's availability directly impacts jobs, innovation, and consumer access to recreational boating.

In the comments, NMMA expressed support for policies that strengthen U.S. manufacturing and offered specific recommendations, including:

· Providing clear implementation guidelines for industries reliant on copper.

· Creating transparent tariff relief mechanisms for manufacturers.

· Investing strategically in domestic copper production to ensure a stable, long-term supply chain.

NMMA also emphasized the importance of preserving strong trade relationships through agreements like the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), which support marine businesses' ability to compete globally.
