Mackenzie Introduces Resolution Calling for Immediate Funding of DHS

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congressman Ryan Mackenzie (PA-07), representing the Lehigh Valley and the Poconos, introduced a resolution calling on Congress to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) immediately and in its entirety, as a lapse in appropriations continues to impact national security operations and frontline personnel.
The resolution highlights the critical role DHS plays in protecting the United States from evolving threats and warns that continued delays or partial funding undermine coordination and preparedness during a heightened threat environment.
"Partisanship from the far left has put politics ahead of our national security and stripped frontline workers of their paychecks," said Congressman Mackenzie. "At a time of heightened risk to our national security, it's critical that our nation's security apparatus is fully operational. We need to pass full DHS funding now, alongside commonsense ICE reforms - like those already included in the appropriations package - to keep our country safe and secure."
The Department of Homeland Security includes key agencies responsible for protecting the American people, including the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and the United States Secret Service. Many of these personnel have continued working without pay during the current funding lapse.
Mackenzie's resolution emphasizes that partial funding of individual DHS components would degrade interagency coordination and increase risks to the American public. It also expresses gratitude to DHS employees who continue to serve with dedication and professionalism despite the challenges.
The resolution calls on Congress to act immediately to ensure DHS has the full resources necessary to carry out its mission and protect the United States from harm.
