European OEMs gain a proven option for wheel end engineering and production

ConMet brings more than 60 years of wheel end experience, 60+ million hubs produced, and global manufacturing capabilities to IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026

HANNOVER, Germany - Sept. 10, 2026 - ConMet is expanding its wheel end support for European commercial vehicle manufacturers, giving OEMs a proven option for wheel end engineering, validation, and high-volume production. The company returns to IAA TRANSPORTATION in 2026 to showcase these capabilities.

"We work with OEM engineering teams from initial development through production, allowing them to rely on a dedicated wheel end supplier and focus their resources on other vehicle priorities."

ConMet works with every major heavy-duty truck manufacturer in North America, many of which are part of the same global OEM groups represented in Europe. Through close collaboration with those manufacturers, ConMet wheel end technology is factory-installed on all heavy-duty trucks produced in North America and on a growing number of trailers.

Since 1964, ConMet has produced more than 60 million hubs across its wheel end portfolio.

Wheel end architectures for European OEMs

ConMet's offering is not limited to PreSet and PreSet Plus technology.

The company also designs and manufactures hub systems used in European commercial vehicle applications, including conventional, truck-matched, and cartridge-bearing configurations. ConMet's portfolio includes weight-optimized aluminum and iron hub assemblies for disc and drum brake applications, helping OEMs reduce wheel end weight while meeting application-specific brake requirements.

"Our goal is not to apply one wheel end architecture everywhere," Hurley said. "We can support the systems OEMs already use and apply our engineering and manufacturing capabilities to those designs."

Manufacturing at scale

At the ConMet Technical Center in Vancouver, Washington, engineers use more than 80 pieces of specialized test equipment for design verification, concept validation, benchmarking, and simulation of real-world operating conditions.

ConMet also operates a global manufacturing network with iron casting, aluminum casting, precision machining, and assembly capabilities. European OEMs can use ConMet as a build-to-print source for existing cast components, adding a stable and cost-competitive manufacturing option to their supply chain.

In the U.S. and Mexico, the company operates vertically integrated iron and aluminum manufacturing facilities. In China, ConMet's iron foundry operations use electric induction melting powered by 100% nuclear and solar electricity, supporting lower-carbon production goals for global customers.

ConMet's European headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany, supports commercial vehicle manufacturers across the region and connects customers to the company's global engineering and manufacturing resources.
