2025 Sea Scallop Dredge Survey in Photos

The Atlantic Sea Scallop Dredge Survey first began in 1979. It has evolved into a collaborative survey between our science center and the scallop fishing industry using commercial scallop vessels. We collect data on abundance, spatial distribution, and life history for Atlantic sea scallops from Georges Bank to Delmarva. Atlantic sea scallops support a high-value commercial fishery that is one of the most lucrative in our region, bringing in $333 million in 2024. These photos give a behind-the-scenes look at what happens during the survey aboard the commercial fishing vessel F/V Selje, and a window into our work supporting healthy fish stocks and vibrant fishing communities.
