Stafford County Debuts Interactive Map to View Pending New Development

Stafford County is debuting a new tool to make it easier for residents to find out more about new development. The County frequently fields questions from residents who spot a new construction site or a public hearing site and inquire about activity. A new mapping tool at https://staffordcountyva.gov/currentdevelopment makes it easy for residents to find information on pending residential and commercial developments.

This digital solution was developed to help residents easily identify what may be built near where they live, work and play. The digital mapping tool provides a comprehensive visual representation of all pending developments in an accessible and easy-to-use format. Users may search with ease for a development by zooming in on the map to a specific location, or if the development is known, search by application type, application number or parcel number. It is also possible to filter results by application types, including commercial and industrial plans, comprehensive plan compliance, conditional use permit, grading plans, reclassification, residential plans and subdivision plats.

Once a user clicks on a development on the map, a box appears with information, such as the application status, project description, public meeting date (if applicable), completion date (if final) and the election district. Stafford County is committed to transparency and continually seeks new ways to communicate information to its residents, including current and pending development projects. The Department of Planning and Zoning, along with the Board of Supervisors, works diligently to bring new residential and commercial properties to the County that will benefit the community.
