SIIA Submits Letter on OPM Language in Ohio Budget Bill

The Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) submitted a letter to Chair Roegner expressing concern over the broad language in Section 1713.03-.041 of Ohio's HB96, which could unintentionally impact students, educators, and technology providers. We emphasized the importance of refining the bill's language to avoid sweeping in a wide range of digital tools and services that are not traditionally considered online program managers (OPMs), yet are vital to Ohio schools' success.

In our letter, we recommend specific edits to the bill that would clarify its intent without hindering access to innovative educational technologies. We also urge continued stakeholder engagement and reasonable implementation timelines to ensure schools, service providers, and policymakers can work together to support educational outcomes across the state.
