Governor Lombardo Announces Appointments to Nevada Fuel Resiliency Committee

Governor Joe Lombardo today announced appointments to the Fuel Resiliency Committee, a statewide advisory body established to strengthen Nevada's preparedness and response to fuel supply disruptions from California.

The committee brings together state agencies, local governments, industry leaders, and emergency management partners to assess risks in Nevada's fuel supply chain and develop practical strategies to improve reliability during emergencies and regional disruptions.

"Nevada's economy and public safety depend on reliable access to fuel," said Governor Lombardo. "This committee ensures Nevada is proactively coordinating across sectors to strengthen preparedness and response."

Committee Membership

The Fuel Resiliency Committee operates under the Nevada Homeland Security Commission and includes representatives from the Nevada Office of Emergency Management, Nevada Department of Transportation, Governor's Office of Energy, Public Utilities Commission of Nevada, Governor's Office of Economic Development, Nevada Department of Agriculture, Nevada Department of Business and Industry, Nevada Division of Minerals, and Nevada Division of Environmental Protection, along with legislative and local government participants.

Industry participation spans the full fuel supply chain, with representatives from HF Sinclair, Kinder Morgan, Chevron, Shell USA, Phillips 66, Marathon Petroleum, PBF Energy, and U.S. Energy, as well as fuel retailers represented by the Energy and Convenience Association of Nevada, transportation and logistics partners from the Nevada Trucking Association, rail providers including Union Pacific Railroad, airport fuel operations represented by the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority, and county governments coordinated through the Nevada Association of Counties.

Committee Focus

The committee will identify vulnerabilities in Nevada's fuel supply and distribution systems, strengthen coordination across public and private partners, review emergency response and contingency planning, and explore options to expand and modernize fuel-related infrastructure to improve statewide resilience.

The committee is scheduled to convene its first meeting on January 13.
