LDF and Civil Rights Legacy Organizations Urge Congress to Oppose DHS Funding Bills

Today, the Legal Defense Fund (LDF), along with several civil rights legacy organizations, delivered a letter to Congress urging U.S. Senators to oppose any effort to advance appropriations bills related to the funding of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The unconscionable abuses of DHS oversight and the egregious conduct of DHS' enforcement operations have obliterated public trust in the department. LDF and the partner organizations firmly requested that Congress rein in the rogue, paramilitary force that has been operating beyond the constraints of the law without any accountability with crucial restrictions to DHS' operations before voting on any funding for the department.
