Nominations Open for Carrollton's Annual Volunteer Awards

The City of Carrollton's Community Development is now accepting nominations for the yearly Neighborhood Leadership Award, Outstanding Community Organization Award, Volunteer of the Year Award, and Youth Volunteer of the Year Award to be presented at the annual Citizens' Evening event on Wednesday, February 25.

Nominations for noteworthy community volunteers will be accepted through Saturday, January 31 at 11:59 p.m. All four awards will be presented at Citizens' Evening which includes the Mayor's State of the City address from 6-8:30 p.m. held at the Carrollton Senior Center (1720 Keller Springs Road) in the Texas Ballroom. Any winner from the previous year is ineligible to win for the next three years.

The Carrollton Volunteer Awards are designed to recognize individuals, organizations, and leaders who have gone above and beyond to deliver exceptional community service to the City of Carrollton and its residents in 2025. The City is grateful for those who have contributed their time, ideas, and efforts in making the community a beautiful place and enhancing the lives of others, and utilizes these awards to display that appreciation.

The Neighborhood Leadership Award recognizes adults in the Carrollton community who have contributed outstanding service or taken a proactive role in addressing the needs of the City and its residents in 2025. Examples of volunteer efforts include beautification projects, outstanding board leadership, youth projects, church community outreach projects, intercultural projects, crime watch, and social causes. Nominees can serve neighborhood associations, churches, non-profits, PTAs, or any other self-organized group that serves the City. They must be at least 18 years old and have volunteered for at least one year in Carrollton.

The Outstanding Community Organization Award is designed to recognize active organizations giving back to the Carrollton community, such as neighborhood associations, non-profits, PTAs, churches, youth groups, and any other self-organized group. Nominated organizations must be composed of three or more members, have predefined goals, and utilize strategy to achieve those goals. They also must have contributed outstanding service to the Carrollton community in 2025 through projects such as neighborhood beautification or community events.

The Volunteer of the Year Award honors distinguished service to a City of Carrollton department, program, or affiliate organization such as a board or commission, Citizen Patrol, Animal Adoption Center, Carrollton Public Library, Metrocrest Services, and more. Nominees must be at least 18 years old and have volunteered for at least one year.

The Youth Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes distinguished service to a City of Carrollton department, school program, scout troop, or social service organization that serve the Carrollton community. Nominees must be 10 to 17 years of age and have volunteered for at least one year.

The Volunteer Award Selection Committee chooses each award recipient based on volunteer efforts, commitment of time, accomplishments, community impact, and enhancement of the lives of others.
