Warren Releases New Report: Trump's China Visit was Corruption Disguised as Diplomacy

Washington, D.C. - Following President Trump's trip to China, the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee Minority Staff-led by Ranking Member Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.)-released a new report detailing how the visit served the financial interests of the President and his billionaire allies rather than American workers, farmers or families.

"President Trump didn't go to China to fight for American workers or farmers -he went to cut deals for the billionaires who funded his campaign and his ballroom," said Ranking Member Warren. "The American people will not forget this brazen display of corruption."

The report details how President Trump's China visit was a corruption tour disguised as diplomacy. The trip's guest list and the "deals" the President announced, as well as the President's own reported stock holdings, tell Americans what they already know: the President's China policy centers on prioritizing short-term gains for himself and other billionaires over the long-term interests of American families. Among the key findings:

  • Pay-to-Play: President Trump brought a delegation of CEOs who are fighting for special treatment. Nearly every executive on the trip donated to Trump's campaign, his inauguration fund, or his White House ballroom. And Trump owned stock in many of the same companies whose CEOs were invited on the China trip. The message to American families is clear: Trump's China policy is being written by and for billionaires.
  • Trump Leaves American Families and Farmers Behind: President Trump promised that the costs of his across-the-board tariff war would be borne by other countries. In reality, however, the tariffs China and others were supposed to pay for will cost American families $2,500 on average this year. During his trip, Trump also failed to secure an agreement to end China's unfair trade practices. American households and farmers-not China-are paying the price for the President's recklessness.
  • Trump's China Deal Sells Out U.S. National Security: NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang boarded Air Force One as a last-minute addition after spending much of 2025 lobbying for permission to sell advanced AI chips to China. Since then, the Trump Administration has reportedly cleared NVIDIA chip sales despite warnings from senior military officials that doing so may endanger America's national security.
