The University of New Mexico Alumni Association will once again bring the taste of New Mexico to cities across the country with its annual Alumni Green Chile Roasts, a tradition that connects Lobos nationwide through food, community and philanthropy.
Held each August and September, the events are hosted by alumni chapters across the United States, offering alumni and friends an opportunity to reconnect with UNM and celebrate the flavors of home.

The tradition dates back to 1971, when the first Green Chile Roast was held in Washington, D.C. Since then, the events have expanded to 14 alumni chapters, collectively roasting more than 10 tons of green chile each year.
Beyond the food, the events serve a larger purpose. The gatherings help raise more than $20,000 annually for student scholarships through the UNM Alumni Association, supporting future generations of Lobos.
Green Chile Roasts and related "Meet and Heat" events also feature New Mexican cuisine, family-friendly activities and local entertainment, providing a space for alumni to engage with one another and strengthen the Lobo network nationwide.
UNM alumni chapters continue to seek volunteers and community partners to support the events. Attendees can express interest in volunteering when registering for a local roast, and sponsorship opportunities are also available.
