PASADENA, Calif - The City of Pasadena Public Works Department will host a community outreach event on Thursday, May 14, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Willard Elementary School, 301 Madre Street, to share updates on the Eaton Wash Stormwater Capture Project.
This event will showcase the 90% park design and offer attendees an opportunity to explore its featured components. Community members can learn about the final design concept and how public input has shaped the overall vision. Attendees are also invited to share their support and participate in family-friendly activities.
Since Winter 2025, four community outreach events have been held during the design phase to gather feedback and refine the plan. The effort is now nearing completion.
The site is a vacant, City-owned parcel adjacent to Eaton Blanche Park. The initiative leverages its 10,294-acre upstream drainage area and proximity to the Eaton Wash Channel to improve water quality for the Eaton Wash, the Rio Hondo, and the Los Angeles Rivers. Plans include underground stormwater infiltration and treatment features, along with above-ground improvements to create an inclusive, multi-benefit passive park space. Proposed amenities include bioswales and other stormwater features, shaded gathering areas, walking paths, outdoor classrooms, demonstration and community gardens, a dog park, and interpretive signage highlighting the site's history.
