The Unified Government will host a special Flood Damage Disposal Event on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Indian Springs (47th & Orville, Kansas City, Kansas 66102) to support residents affected by recent severe weather.
Residents of Wyandotte County are invited to dispose of flood-damaged items at no charge. Waste Management is generously donating dumpster delivery service, and space is limited. Participation will be first-come, first-served.
Only flood-damaged items will be accepted. Items not accepted include:
This event is specifically for household items damaged by flooding. KCK residents have several other options for disposing of yard waste and storm-related debris:
Curbside Pickup (on your normal trash day)
Recycling & Yard Waste Center (3241 Park Drive, Kansas City, Kansas 66102)
Johnson County Landfill (17955 Holliday Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66217)
"We know many of our residents were hit hard by the recent storms," said Diana Miles, Solid Waste Manager. "This disposal event gives people a quick, no-cost way to get rid of water-damaged household items. We're grateful to Waste Management for stepping up to help us make this happen."
Residents should be prepared to unload their items. Staff will be on-site to assist with traffic flow and confirm eligibility.
