The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Armenia, Eva Sundqvist, presented her credentials to the President of the Republic, Vahagn Khachaturyan.
The President congratulated the Ambassador on her appointment, highly appreciating the programs and initiatives that Sweden has already implemented in Armenia. "I would like to thank You for the cooperation and the significant work that Sweden has carried out in Armenia, particularly in strengthening democratic institutions. Sweden and Armenia maintain a high level of political dialogue and cooperation in all fields. I am confident that during Your tenure these relations will become even more active," the President noted.
Ambassador Eva Sundqvist expressed her gratitude for the warm reception, emphasizing: "It is a great honor for me to serve as Ambassador to Armenia, a wonderful country with a rich history and culture. I look forward with great anticipation to the further development of our bilateral relations."
During the meeting, both sides praised the progress made in recent years in Armenia in the sphere of democratic reforms and the establishment of institutions. In this context, Sweden's support for strengthening democracy and building a rule-of-law state in Armenia was given particular importance.
The discussion also touched upon upcoming major international events. In particular, the organizational issues of the European Political Community Summit to be held in Armenia in 2026 and the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity were addressed.
The sides also exchanged views on regional developments, stressing the need to establish lasting and sustainable peace. Both sides emphasized that close cooperation with international partners would make it possible to create a solid foundation for peace, contributing to the stable development of the entire region.
