Ranking Member Shaheen Statement on Announcement of First Phase of Gaza Peace Deal
WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued a statement following the announcement by President Trump that an agreement has been reached by Israel and Hamas on the first phase of a peace deal.
"I commend the Trump Administration and the mediators for reaching this first phase of an agreement. It is long past time for the hostages to be returned to their families and for the parties to work toward a lasting ceasefire. I will be carefully monitoring implementation of this agreement, and I call on Israel and Hamas to continue negotiations with urgency to ensure the next phase can be reached quickly. Israelis and Palestinians deserve to live with dignity and security."
