UNION CITY, CA, July 10, 2025 - Union City's waste hauler, Republic Services, remains impacted by a labor action involving drivers who began a work stoppage on July 8 in solidarity with Teamster union members nationwide.
As a result of the work disruption, the following services are currently delayed:
Note: Compost and recycling collection services provided by Tri-CED Community Recycling are not impacted.
In response to this collection services disruption, all impacted customers can dispose of garbage at no additional cost by delivering garbage to either of the two drop-off locations in Union City or the Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station.
Drop-Off Locations Now Available for Residents
To support residents during the service disruption, Union City and Republic Services have identified three temporary public drop-off sites where bins will be located for residents to dispose of their garbage:
City Parking Lot#1 at Union City BART - 11th Street & Decoto Road
Mark Green Sports Center - 31224 Union City Boulevard
Note: These bins are for household garbage only. These bins will be serviced daily by Republic Services.
Deliver Garbage to the Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station
Impacted customers are eligible to deliver uncollected garbage at no cost to the Fremont Recycling and Transfer Station located at 41149 Boyce Road. The facility is open Monday- Friday from 8:00AM - 5:00PM. Please bring proof of residency or business address to receive free disposal services.
We will continue to provide timely updates as more information becomes available. We appreciate the community's continued patience and understanding during this time. For questions, please contact Republic Service at 510-657-3500 or visit www.republicservices.com
