The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will launch a nationwide mandatory joint replacement payment model in 2028, giving post-acute care providers time to build hospital partnerships and demonstrate their value in delivering coordinated, cost-effective recovery care. Assisted living providers and affordable housing could also see impacts as more patients return home and require more support.
