Near North Side Youth Center to Receive TIF Support
After School Matters's planned Orleans Teen Center on the Near North Side was approved for $5 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) support by City Council today.
The $26 million project at 1065 N. Orleans St. includes 36,000 square feet of renovated space that will serve 2,100 teens annually, with programming focused on culinary, trades and STEM skills. The building was originally operated as St. Joseph School, which closed in 2002.
TIF assistance for the project is being provided through the Near North TIF district.
