The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada has awarded Linn County national awards for excellence in financial reporting for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2024. These awards reflect Linn County's commitment to maintaining excellence in financial management and accountability to taxpayers.
For the 36th year, Linn County earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) (PDF), a 130-page document that details the County's finances. For the 27th year, Linn County also received the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting for its Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) (PDF). The PAFR is a 12-page summary designed to give residents an easy-to-read overview of how public dollars are collected and spent, along with highlights of the County's accomplishments and major initiatives of the past year.
A panel of judges reviews each report and evaluates them based on a set of industry standards. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The award signifies that Linn County demonstrates full disclosure of its finances.
Linn County earned the Triple Crown Medallion by achieving all three GFOA awards for fiscal year 2024: the Certification of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Award, and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.
Copies of Linn County's ACFR, PAFR, and annual budget are available on Linn County's website.
