Department of Physical Therapy partners with PT Solutions

The Department of Physical Therapy in the College of Health Sciences is partnering with PT Solutions for the next three years to grow services for students, practitioners, and patients across the country and to give students the opportunity to practice in real-world environments prior to graduation.

PT Solutions is a clinician-founded practice that takes a people-centered approach to therapy, providing physical therapy and athletic training services.

"A partnership between Marquette and PT Solutions couldn't be better poised to benefit our students as they get an opportunity to learn in a real-world, clinical environment, one-on-one with patients," said Dr. Allison Hyngstrom, chair of the Physical Therapy Department. "We couldn't be more excited to launch this partnership and have our students utilize their didactic lessons and put what they learned in the classroom to work at PT Solutions."

Hyngstrom added that the funds also help address the rising costs of education and the simultaneous growing need for healthcare providers and physical therapists in Wisconsin.

The opportunity is priceless for students such as Caitlyn Duong. As a Professional-3 student of the doctorate program, Caitlyn completed a ten-week clinical rotation at the PT Solutions of South Austin clinic. Caitlyn worked with a PT Solutions rehabilitation team in an outpatient setting. "I had the opportunity to spend 10 weeks at PT Solutions in South Austin, Texas, for my second clinical experience. During this time, I gained valuable insight into the team's collaborative approach to patient care. I saw firsthand how this approach made physical therapy sessions a highlight of the patients' week. One of the main reasons I chose PT Solutions was their strong commitment to education and mentorship. I am excited to join the team and contribute to the future of physical therapy," she said.
