n 26 March 2026, H.E. Ambassador Jorge Toledo delivered opening remarks at a high-level conference in Beijing entitled "Shaping the Future of Multilateral Climate Governance: EU-China Cooperation in a Changing Global Landscape." The Ambassador underscored both sides' commitment to cooperation on climate and environmental issues, including through strengthening ties between leading think tanks and academic institutions in the EU and China.

Keynote speeches were delivered by Jarl Krausing, Deputy CEO of CONCITO, and Professor Hu Bin of Tsinghua University, followed by a panel discussion featuring leading experts from Europe and China. The discussion explored the effectiveness of multilateral climate processes, the role of EU-China cooperation in shaping global climate governance, and pathways for potential collaboration in climate finance, clean energy transition, and policy coordination.

The event was organised by the Hanns Seidel Foundation Beijing Representative's Office under the EU-funded EU-China Think Tank Engagement on Green Governance Project. It brought together approximately 120 participants from think tanks, government institutions, international organisations, academia, and civil society across Europe and China.
