The 2025 GPA Midstream Convention is a one-stop opportunity for engineers to earn required continuing professional education credits while keeping current on standards and professional practice.
The convention runs Sept. 21-24, 2025, at the Marriott Rivercenter in San Antonio, and most technical sessions are structured to meet professional development needs.
One session you should pencil into your schedule is "Professional Ethics for Engineers," presented by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (TBPELS). It's scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2025 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The session will cover licensure, enforcement basics, and the ethical responsibilities that shape everyday decisions engineers make on projects.
A quick refresher on TBPELS: the board licenses and regulates professional engineers and registered surveyors in Texas, enforces the Engineering and Surveying Practice Acts, and carries out outreach and education to protect public health, safety, and welfare. The board currently oversees more than 69,000 licensed professional engineers and roughly 2,800 registered surveyors in Texas - which is why sessions about ethics and compliance have real, practical value for anyone working in, or connected to projects in, Texas.
Continuing professional education keeps your license current and your judgment sharp. Professional societies and codes of ethics emphasize lifelong learning as essential to protecting the public and preserving professional competence - in short, skipping ongoing education is a risk to your license and to the people who rely on your work. The convention's concentrated schedule makes it straightforward to stack multiple credits in a few days.
The GPA Midstream Convention is an investment in your career because it makes meeting continuing education requirements simple and efficient. You can fulfill education requirements, cover multiple topic areas and earn a variety of credits in one trip.
Don't let CPE become a last-minute scramble. Register for the 2025 GPA Midstream Convention and attend sessions that count toward your licensure requirements.
