Guan Cadet gets Orientation Flight in South Dakota

Cadet Senior Master Sgt. Noah Olsen, a member of CAP's Anderson AFB Cadet Squadron in Guam, recently completed his third orientation flight in South Dakota Wing while visiting his grandfather in Sioux Falls.

No CAP aircraft are stationed in Guam, making orientation flights rare. Noah makes the most of every trip back to South Dakota by taking to the air. SD Wing provided him his first two orientation flights during his 2025 visit.

His dream is to become a pilot, and CAP orientation flights are helping him build that foundation one flight at a time. Captain Kurt Johnson piloted the aircraft as the pair headed west from Sioux Falls. They returned with big smiles and memories of another outstanding flight experience.

Through orientation flights in powered aircraft, CAP cadets experience flight first-hand. CAP's pilots are licensed by the FAA, follow a syllabus for each flight, and ensure the flight is conducted safely. Orientation flights are free to cadets.
