Honors

Valerie Wright, MCN, received the AgriSafe Nurse Scholar Farm Credit Illinois Scholarship Award (June 2025).

Taylor Soja, HIS, was selected for a Visiting Research Fellowship by the IU Indianapolis Arts and Humanities Institute and the North American Conference on British Studies.

Ryan A. Davis, LAN, was awarded the B.H. Roberts Research Grant at the annual conference of the Mormon History Association and also the Pollock Best Historical Article Award at the annual conference of the John Whitmer Historical Association.

Presentations

Keith Pluyners, IT, presented the opening webinar for this year's Yale Forest Forum.

Richard Hughes, HIS, presented a paper, "What Happens When Teaching Mandates Go Your Way: Reimagining History Teaching and Curricula in Blue States," at the History Educators International Research Network Conference in Cologne, Germany. He was also chosen to participate in a pre-conference workshop organized by Canadian researchers titled "What is the Future of Historical Thinking? An International Dialogue."

Valerie Wright, MCN, presented the webinar "The COLLABORATE Card Game: Innovation and Research Insights" at the MNRS Nursing Education Quarterly RIIG Meeting.

Lindsay Stallones Marshall, HIS, was a guest on a new podcast for secondary history teachers on the topic of the American West.

Lindsay Stallones Marshall, HIS, organized and facilitated the annual conference of the Equine History Collective 2025, Horse Sense & Sensibility: Equids, Humans, and Meaning-Making, held virtually in partnership with Johnson & Wales University (Providence, RI).

Lou Perez, HIS, signed a translation rights agreement with Alfa Publishing for the sale of the Turkish language rights of Daily Life in Early Modern Japan.

Valerie Wright and Pat Pence, both MCN, coauthored "U.S. Graduate Nurses' Transition into Practice: Perspectives on Simulation-based Education and Cultural Awareness in Caring for Diverse Patients" in Nurse Education in Practice.

Pat Pence, Valerie Wright, MyoungJin Kim, and Kileigh Guido, all MCN, coauthored "Promoting Inclusion Through Diverse Simulation Equipment" in Nurse Educator.

Susan Sprecher, SOC, was referenced for her research in a BBC article titled "The shortcut to close bonds - Asking meaningful questions." She also coauthored the article, "More than an Acquaintance less than a Friend: Fringeships in Everyday Life," which was also featured in a Psychology Today article.

Amy Bardwell and Chang Su-Russell, both FCS, coauthored "An Examination of Well-Being and Retention during the Transition of Learning Modality in a University Academic Department" in Teaching and Learning Inquiry (July 2025).
