AQB Seeks Subject Matter Experts for National Exam

Applications are open through November 15, 2026.

The Appraiser Qualifications Board (AQB) is expanding its pool of subject matter experts (SMEs) to help develop and review the National Uniform Licensing and Certification Examinations.

The AQB is seeking professionals with a range of appraisal credentials, career experience, practice settings, property specialties, and market knowledge. Licensed residential, certified residential, and certified general appraisers are encouraged to apply, along with other professionals who have relevant appraisal-regulation or pre-licensure education experience.

SMEs help ensure the national exam reflects the knowledge, skills, and professional judgment expected of appraisers entering the profession. Assignments may include evaluating appraisal practice requirements, developing and reviewing exam questions, and contributing to recommendations for passing standards.

No prior exam-development experience is required. Selected SMEs receive training before beginning assigned work. Participation is primarily voluntary, and selected applicants may be invited to assignments as examination needs arise.

Applications must be completed by November 15, 2026, and include professional and qualification information, disclosures and certifications, and a video of up to five minutes.
