ASRM Releases Congressional Scorecard

October 16, 2024
For immediate release

Washington, DC - The American Society for Reproductive Medicine is today releasing its first-ever Congressional scorecard. The scorecard lists every member of the 118th Congress and their position on legislation important to ASRM and its members.

"While we do not endorse in candidate races, we have gotten many requests from our members as they are working to make their own decisions about Congressional elections. Given the high level of salience for reproductive issues in this Congress, we felt it was important to respond to that need," said Sean Tipton, ASRM's Chief Advocacy and Policy Officer. Tipton added, "It is our hope that this guide not only provides important information to our members but further spurs their engagement in this year's historic elections, now only weeks away."

The scorecard is designed to be clear and easy to follow. Each state's congressional delegation is listed alphabetically and their stands on bills and resolutions important to ASRM are shown, with indications as to whether the member of Congress shared or opposed ASRM's position. Some legislation ASRM has not taken an official position on, but which may be relevant to some ASRM members, is also listed.

The Congressional scorecard is available on the ASRM website here.

The Office of Public Affairs is offering the following activities to ASRM members attending the Annual Congress & Expo in Denver:

  • Opportunities to engage with voters in states where reproductive rights are on the ballot
  • A policy update from the Office of Public Affairs in the Spotlight Theater (Monday, October 21 at 1:30 p.m.)
  • A Spotlight Theater presentation from the inaugural PRIMED Cohort (Tuesday, October 22 at 10 a.m.) and the chance to learn more and apply for 2025
  • A celebration of the passage of the new California IVF insurance mandate, bringing the total number of Americans with improved coverage to 60 million, in the Spotlight Theater at 12:20 following the PRIMED Cohort's presentation
