Identity confirmation now also in the Bank Millennium mobile app

Bank Millennium introduced the possibility of confirming identity on public administration and commercial websites directly in its mobile application. Customers will confirm their identity faster and easier using biometrics or PIN code.

Until now, confirmation of identity with Millennium ID on a mobile device was done by logging in to Millenet online banking in the browser. The customer entered their login (Millekod), password and selected characters of the identifier, e.g. PESEL number. In the latest version of the app, Bank Millennium has made available to customers the second option, i.e. the possibility of using Millennium ID in the mobile app.

When logging in to official or commercial services on a mobile device, all you have to do is select the option to confirm your identity via banking, and then indicate Bank Millennium. The user will then see two options: the app or online banking. Selecting the first option will automatically redirect you to the bank's mobile application, where the identity can be quickly and securely confirmed using biometrics or a PIN code. The solution is available to customers who have confirmed their identity in the branch and have the latest version of the app active.

"The new solution is a tribute to the growing group of our customers, for whom the mobile application is the basic, and often the only tool for using banking. From now on, its users will confirm their identity directly in the banking app, without having to enter their Millenet login details. Our solution is distinguished by full integration with the mobile application and a simplified authentication process. It is fast, convenient and safe", says Paweł Konopka, Head of the Retail Digital Platforms Team at Bank Millennium.

"On the technical side, the process is designed as a trusted authorization flow, using deep links and secure switching between the browser and the mobile application. Thanks to this, the user no longer has to go through the classic process of logging in to online banking - all they need is biometric or PIN authentication in the app. This solution is another example of a project implemented at the interface of banking and national authorisation infrastructure, which shows how modern mobile technologies can be effectively combined with regulatory requirements and interoperability of public systems", explains Michał Siwko, Head of the Mobile Banking Solutions Projects Team at Bank Millennium.

Identity confirmation with Millennium ID, based on the mojeID service provided by the National Clearing House, was made available to Bank Millennium customers in January 2023. This solution enables quick and secure online identity confirmation on public administration websites and commercial service providers based on electronic banking - without the need to visit an office or customer service point in person.

Nearly 3 million Bank Millennium customers actively use digital channels and over 2.7 million use banking on mobile devices. In accordance with the "Value and Growth" strategy for 2025-2028, the bank wants to increase the number of its retail clients to 3.7 million and be the bank of first choice for 70% of them.
