DENVER - Today, Governor Weston Hancock spent the day at the State Capitol learning how state government works for Coloradans, leading meetings with agency leadership, signing a proclamation, and unveiling art installations in Golden.
"I'm so proud to be a Coloradan. Today I learned about the issues that matter to people from the Western Slope to the Eastern Plains, and I got to see what it takes to lead our state. Between meeting with state leaders like the Lieutenant Governor and meeting with state departments, I had so much fun exploring our government. It was unlike anything I've ever done, and I'm so thankful Governor Polis chose me to be Governor for a Day, and to everyone else I had the privilege of meeting today," said Governor Weston Hancock.
"Governor Weston took the job seriously and had fun doing it. He approached every moment with curiosity and confidence. Students like Weston are the reason I'm so optimistic about Colorado's future. I am glad he got to join me for a day at the Capitol and learn more about how state government delivers for Coloradans," said Governor Jared Polis.
Governor Hancock started his day as governor by meeting with agencies to get updated on some of the topics he's passionate about. His meetings included a state parks meeting with Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff and a meeting reviewing the Colorado 150-America 250 commission's work with History Colorado staff. Governor Hancock also met with Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera.

Governor Hancock signed a proclamation recognizing "One Good Deed Day", emphasizing the importance of kindness and encouraging Coloradans to be the change they want to see in their community. He also took questions from members of the media at his first press conference.
In the afternoon, Governor Hancock toured the State Capitol, getting an exclusive behind-the-scenes view of the building, including the historic Old Supreme Court Chambers and the dome's Rotunda, and learning about some of the rich state history stored within its walls. Governor Hancock also visited the Colorado School of Mines alongside Governor Polis. During his visit, he met with the School of Mines leadership and toured a geothermal lab and innovation hub. He capped the day by meeting with Coloradans in Golden to unveil two art installations in celebration of Colorado's 150th birthday.
