Frida Fest Returns to Grand Prairie for a Three-Day Celebration of Art

Published on May 07, 2026

The spirit of iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo will once again come alive in Grand Prairie as the 3rd Annual Frida Fest comes to EpicCentral for a free, three-day celebration honoring Latina culture, creativity, leadership, and community.

Produced by The Norma Group, Frida Fest will take place May 8-10 and invites residents and visitors from across North Texas to experience live music, art, performances, food vendors, cultural programming, and the beloved "Best Frida" contest.

Inspired by the enduring legacy of Frida Kahlo, the festival's mission extends beyond celebrating the internationally recognized artist. Organizers say the event is designed to recognize the "Frida" within everyone, highlighting the strength, resilience, courage, and leadership found throughout the Latina community.

Throughout the weekend, attendees can enjoy performances from Latina vocalists, DJs, dance groups, artists, and musicians from across Texas, along with leadership panels and community recognition awards celebrating influential Latina leaders.

One of the festival's signature events, the "Best Frida" contest, will take place Saturday evening from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Contestants will compete for a grand prize of $1,954, a tribute to the year of Frida Kahlo's passing. Finalists will be selected by community leaders, with the ultimate winner chosen through audience participation.

The festival concludes on Mother's Day with the Frida Fest Marketplace and Festival at the GrandLawn Amphitheater, featuring Mexican street food vendors, artisan booths, live entertainment, and a family-friendly festival atmosphere honoring mothers and the vibrant spirit of community.
