WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) is standing up for life and introducing a pair of bills that will require all 50 states to be transparent about the number of abortions and prohibit federal funding for Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider.
These bills build upon Senator Ernst's unwavering commitment to protecting the rights of the unborn that recently earned her an "A+" on the Susan B. Anthony List National Pro-Life Scorecard.
"We must fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, and nowhere is that more true than when it comes to defending the most vulnerable among us - the unborn," said Ernst. "Today, and every day, I am proud to stand up for life. We should be focused on funding women's health instead of fueling the abortion-on-demand agenda championed by radical left-wing groups."
"Sen. Ernst is an unwavering leader for Life in the Senate. The Protect Funding for Women's Health Care Act prevents federal tax dollars from bankrolling Planned Parenthood, America's largest abortion chain, and instead invests these dollars in providers of life-affirming women's health services. The Ensuring Accurate and Complete Abortion Data Reporting ensures that the CDC receives accurate and current data on abortion from all 50 states. Thank you, Sen. Ernst, for your work to prioritize women across our nation," said Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America Vice President of Government Affairs Marilyn Musgrave.
The Ensuring Accurate and Complete Abortion Data Reporting Act will require all fifty states to report the numbers of abortions performed to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The Protect Funding for Women's Health Care Act will prohibit federal tax dollars from funding Planned Parenthood Federation of America or its affiliates, subsidiaries, successors, or clinics.
