SACRAMENTO - California Attorney General Bonta, together with law enforcement partners, today announced the arrest of a suspect in possession of illegally owned firearms and a rocket launcher. During the execution of a search warrant in Rancho Cordova, law enforcement personnel seized a shotgun, two pistols, a machine gun pistol, and an inert rocket launcher.
"Our work to confront gun violence on our streets and in our courtrooms is saving lives, but we know the job is not finished," said Attorney General Bonta. "This arrest reflects the power of strong partnerships and a shared commitment to a safer California. Weapons of war have no place in civilian hands, and I am grateful they have been taken off our streets. I commend our Bureau of Firearms agents and our local law enforcement partners for their unwavering dedication to removing illegal weapons from dangerous hands and protecting our communities."
On February 10, 2026, agents from the California Department of Justice (DOJ) assisted the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Sacramento Police Department to conduct a firearms investigation at the suspect's residence which lead to the arrest and seizure. The charges include felon in possession of firearms, possession of a machine gun, and child cruelty. The Sacramento County District Attorney's Office will be prosecuting the case.
It is important to note that criminal charges must be proven in a court of law. Every defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
