Search resumes for bushwalker missing in Koscuiszko National Park

A multi-agency search has resumed today for a bushwalker missing in the state's south.

Hadi Nazari, aged 23, was last seen by friends about 2.30pm last Thursday (26 December 2024), descending the Hannels Spur Trail, Geehi, between Khancoban and Thredbo, in the Koscuiszko National Park.

The three men were expected to meet up at the Geehi campground; however, when he failed to arrive, the two friends, aged 23 and 24, began to search for him.

Hadi is described as being Asian in appearance, slim build and around 172cm tall. He was wearing a grey, long sleeve shirt, grey pants and carrying a blue backpack.

Officers attached to the Riverina Police District were alerted about 8.45pm, and commenced patrols by vehicle and on foot, assisted by the SES, but without success.

The following day (Friday 27 December 2024), a command post was established and a multi-agency search commenced involving Goulburn Police Rescue, officers attached to Riverina Police District, assisted by National Parks and Wildlife Service, SES, NSW Ambulance, VRA and POLAir.

Further assets have been deployed during the three-day land and air search - including a helicopter with infra-red capabilities - to try to locate the missing bushwalker without success.

While there are concerns for the man's welfare, police have been told the man is an experienced hiker and is carrying camping equipment and wearing clothing suitable to the conditions.
