VanderWal re-elected to leadership positions

Scott VanderWal of Volga was re-elected as Vice President of American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) during the 2026 AFBF Annual Convention, held in Anaheim, California.

VanderWal was first elected to the position in 2016. This will be his sixth consecutive two-year term of service.

A third-generation corn and soybean farmer and cattle feeder, VanderWal has served as President of South Dakota Farm Bureau (SDFB) for more than two decades. He was recently re-elected to the position and has started his 22nd year as President of SDFB.

The state elections were held in November of 2025 during the 108th Annual Convention of SDFB held in Sioux Falls. Reid Jensen of Burbank was re-elected at Vice President of SDFB. Dan Propst of Sioux Falls, Nick Ihnen of Tulare, and Matthew Sleep of Rapid City were elected to new terms of service on the Board, representing Districts 1, 4 and 5 respectively.
