News Release: Year-end discounts on SmartPark parking garage validations for Portland businesses, plus holiday parking sponsorships for everyone to enjoy

(Nov. 10, 2025) Any business that enrolls as a new validation merchant and purchases at least 50 validations will receive 25 additional two-hour validation coupons to provide customers with free or reduced parking at Portland's five SmartPark public parking garages. This new deal for local businesses from the Portland Bureau of Transportation's (PBOT) SmartPark program is intended to help downtown businesses with additional incentives for their customers.

"The holiday season is a time for community, connection and celebration. That includes supporting the small businesses that make Portland's downtown special," said Mayor Keith Wilson. "SmartPark's expanded validation program and free parking weekends make it easier than ever for Portlanders to shop local, dine out and enjoy the magic of the season."

In addition to the new merchant promotion, PBOT is proud to sponsor free parking for on-street parking and all five SmartPark locations on Saturday, November 29 in support of Small Business Saturday. SmartPark will also be sponsoring two free parking weekends on December 12-13 and December 20-21.

SmartPark's validation programsupports small businesses downtown by providing a way for retailers to offer their customers free or discounted parking at the five city-owned garages downtown.

SmartPark also offers a special deal for validations at the 3rd and Alder garage. This promotion features discounted rates up to 40% off on new orders of 51 or more 2-hour validations, with even greater discounts for larger single orders. Validations may be used at all five SmartPark garagesand visitors can use more than one validation to pay for a parking session. Participating retailers will also have the option to be listed online as a SmartPark validating business to enhance visibility and help drive visitors to their business. Over 180 downtown businessesalready offer validation, some may have a minimum purchase requirement to receive validations.

SmartPark'shourly rates are $2.20 per hour for the first four hours on weekdays, and $7 all-day on Saturdays and Sundays. Additional rates, which vary by garage, for carpool, motorcycle, bike, and swing shift parking can be found on the SmartPark webpage.
