SBU Celebrates Faculty and Staff Who Power Our Mission

Stony Brook University's faculty and staff supporters were recognized at two lively donor appreciation events, one on April 28 in the HSC Galleria and another on May 11 in the SAC Ballroom. The gatherings, hosted by University Advancement, brought together colleagues from across campus to celebrate the impact faculty and staff make through their generous support.

"Our faculty and staff are at the heart of what makes Stony Brook exceptional," said Brian Thornton, associate vice president, marketing and constituent experience. "For those who go above and beyond to also support the university with their philanthropy, their generosity directly strengthens the student experience and fuels the programs that move our mission forward. Seeing so many colleagues come together at these events reminds us how powerful our community can be when we all contribute in ways that matter."

These gatherings weren't just events; they were a growing tradition. Faculty and staff who have made a philanthropic contribution this academic year or who have made a legacy gift to the university through their estates were invited to enjoy food, raffles, giveaways and time to connect with colleagues who share a commitment to strengthening the SBU community. East Campus attendees enjoyed a lunch social, while West Campus celebrated with an ice cream social and, of course, selfies with Wolfie, which kept the energy high.
