A Juneau gardener will share tips for creating productive soil during a lunchtime workshop at the Jarvis Street Community Gardens in Sitka.
The free workshop is hosted by the Sitka office of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service.
Sitka gardeners are invited to bring their lunch to the community garden from noon-1:15 p.m. on Saturday, July 25. Ed Buyarski, owner of Ed's Edible Landscaping, will share his recipe for creating productive garden soil using locally sourced materials and organic amendments. The recipe works for vegetables, flowers, or fruits and berries.
A question-and-answer session will follow. Buyarski will also be touring Sitka gardens with other members of the Juneau Garden Club.
