Rogue Regional Medical Center opens expanded cardiovascular care units

MEDFORD, Ore. (October, 26, 2026) - Asante announced the completion and opening of a significant expansion of cardiovascular services at Rogue Regional Medical Center, strengthening access to advanced heart care for patients across southern Oregon and northern California. The investment was made with the support of philanthropy, including a lead gift of $1 million from J. Paul and Geertje de Vos, reflecting a deep commitment to ensuring high-quality cardiovascular care remains available close to home.

The project includes six new cardiac catheterization laboratories, a newly expanded Cardiovascular Recovery Unit, and the co-location of all cardiovascular services designed to improve efficiency, care coordination and patient experience.

"This expansion ensures we can meet growing demand for advanced cardiovascular services, provide patients with access to leading-edge treatment close to home and continue delivering the exceptional care our region depends on," said Jon Cooper, CEO, Rogue Regional Medical Center.

The expansion increases access to specialized cardiovascular care throughout the region. Each year, Asante performs thousands of cath lab procedures, including emergency heart attack interventions, diagnostic angiograms, transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures, advanced structural heart interventions, and nearly 2,000 electrophysiology procedures and pacemaker implants.

This initiative builds on recent investments through the AsanteForward campaign, including new cardiothoracic surgical suites, hybrid operating rooms and a 24-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit that opened in 2024. Together, these improvements are strengthening Asante's ability to provide comprehensive heart care.

"As a nonprofit health system, philanthropy is essential to our ability to make transformative investments like this," said Andrea Reeder, Senior Vice President and Chief Philanthropy Officer, Asante. "The generosity of Paul and Geertje de Vos will help thousands of patients receive lifesaving cardiac care in a world-class environment. Their leadership and commitment to this community will have a lasting impact on the health of our region."

For the de Vos family, the investment represents more than a contribution to bricks and mortar. Their generosity helps ensure that patients facing heart attacks, valve disease, heart rhythm disorders and other serious cardiovascular conditions can receive lifesaving treatment in state-of-the-art facilities close to home rather than traveling long distances for care. The impact of their gift will be felt by thousands of patients and families for decades to come.
