Thousands Awarded to Local Nonprofits for Energy Efficiency Projects

DENVER, CO - Denver Human Rights & Community Partnerships (HRCP) is proud to announce the winners of the 2025 $ave Green Be Green ($GBG) Pitch Competition, held during the annual $GBG Conference. A total of $21,000 was awarded to six outstanding Denver-based nonprofits to support facility upgrades that advance energy efficiency and sustainability in their operations.

The awards were presented at the 2025 $ave Green Be Green Conference, a free, one-day event dedicated to equipping local nonprofits, faith-based organizations, and community groups with the tools, strategies, and resources needed to build climate-smart, sustainable operations.

Congratulations to this year's $GBG Pitch Competition winners:

  • Bluff Lake Nature Center - $10,000
  • Denver Museum of Nature & Science - $5,000
  • The Alliance for Collective Action - $2,500
  • We Don't Waste - $1,500
  • Most Precious Blood Catholic Church - $1,000 (Tie)
  • Holy Rosary Catholic Church - $1,000 (Tie)

"These nonprofits are doing incredible work in our communities, and we're proud to support their efforts to become more energy-efficient," said Perla Gheiler, Executive Director, Denver HRCP. "By investing in local organizations, we're helping them lower operating costs, while advancing Denver's commitment to climate resilience and environmental justice."

The HRCP $GBG Conference, now in its fifth year, has awarded nearly $60,000 to nonprofits through the $GBG Conference to help fund energy-saving facility improvements, empowering organizations to enhance their spaces while keeping their focus on mission-driven programming. These investments directly support Denver's broader goals of building a cleaner and more sustainable future for all.

HRCP invests $2 million annually into Denver nonprofits and community-based organizations to support energy efficiency projects. These include energy audits, weatherization upgrades, and educational programs focused on historically marginalized communities, all contributing to a more equitable and climate-resilient Denver.
