Yesterday, Senator Rosen Called On The Department Of Veterans Affairs To Immediately Overturn Harmful Policy
WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released a statement in response to news that, following her push, the Department of Veterans Affairs will not implement its harmful interim final rule which could have decreased benefits for disabled veterans. The VA's reversal comes after Senator Rosen called on the Trump Administration to immediately overturn the rule and keep our promise to the veterans who have served our nation.
"When the Trump Administration announced their harmful new VA interim final rule, I joined veterans across the country in calling for its immediate reversal because it would've resulted in drastic disability benefits cuts for the men and women who served and sacrificed for our nation," said Senator Rosen. "While I'm glad to see our efforts forced the Trump Administration to reverse course, this rule shouldn't have even been proposed in the first place. This Administration has consistently shown a reckless disregard for the wellbeing of our veterans, but I'll continue fighting back to make sure they have the benefits they've earned."
Senator Rosen has consistently worked to make sure veterans have access to the full benefits and services they have earned. Yesterday, she slammed the Trump Administration for the VA's interim final rule which could have decreased disability benefits. Earlier this month, she joined her colleagues in a resolution to overturn another extreme Trump Administration rule ending abortion counseling and reproductive care for veterans, including victims of rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is at risk. Last year, Senator Rosen introduced a bipartisan bill to bolster access to health care for servicemembers and veterans and help eliminate delays in patient care, as well as a bipartisan bill to increase the availability of mental health services for veterans. Senator Rosen has also been working to pass her FORGOTTEN Veterans Act to ensure servicemembers and veterans who served at classified locations within the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) since 1951 have the same presumption of exposure as the Department of Energy employees they served alongside and are able to prove that they served there, so that they can finally get the PACT Act benefits they deserve following exposure to radiation and toxins.
