PANGKALPINANG -- PT TIMAH Tbk continues to demonstrate its commitment to environmental sustainability through the consistent implementation of sustainable reclamation programs.

Over the past decade, from 2015 to 2025, PT TIMAH Tbk has planted a total of 1,465,728 trees across various operational areas in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province.

In Bangka Regency, PT TIMAH Tbk has planted 386,730 trees; in West Bangka Regency, 186,650 trees; in Central Bangka Regency, 158,632 trees; in South Bangka Regency, 267,129 trees; in Belitung Regency, 160,218 trees; and in East Belitung Regency, 306,369 trees.

This planting program is an integral part of post-mining land reclamation efforts aimed at restoring environmental functions, improving ecosystem quality, and creating productive and sustainable areas for local communities.

In its implementation, PT TIMAH Tbk has planted a variety of plant species tailored to land characteristics and reclamation objectives. Fast-growing plants are one of the main choices to accelerate the greening process and land stabilization. These include acacia, sengon, coastal pine, eucalyptus, and leucaena.

In addition, the company has planted productive crops such as oil palm and rubber, which are expected to provide long-term economic value. Beyond economic aspects, PT TIMAH Tbk has also planted various local plant species to preserve biodiversity and local wisdom, including ketapang, blangiran, nyato, melangir, and dadap.

To support more optimal land utilization, the reclamation program also includes the planting of fruit trees such as cashew, hybrid coconut, guava, citrus, soursop, longan, avocado, rambutan, and mangosteen. The presence of these fruit plants is expected to provide direct benefits to surrounding communities and support local food security.

Anggi Siahaan, Department Head of Corporate Communication at PT TIMAH Tbk, stated that reclamation and tree planting activities are part of the company's commitment to responsible and sustainable mining practices.

"The reclamation and greening programs we implement are a form of the company's responsibility to restore post-mining environments and maintain ecosystem balance. Planting more than 1.4 million trees from 2015 to 2025 reflects PT TIMAH Tbk's commitment to supporting environmental conservation," Anggi said.

Anggi explained that the selection of plant species is adjusted to land conditions and local ecological needs, ranging from fast-growing plants for land stabilization, local species to preserve biodiversity, to productive crops and fruit trees expected to provide economic benefits for surrounding communities.

"We view reclamation not only as a regulatory obligation, but also as a long-term investment for the environment and society. The company ensures that post-mining land can function ecologically again and generate economic benefits for the community," he added.

In carrying out reclamation activities, PT TIMAH Tbk continues to strengthen synergy with the government, academics, and community groups.

This step aligns with the implementation of Good Mining Practice principles and the company's commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of terrestrial ecosystem protection and sustainable development.

Through well-planned and sustainable reclamation programs, PT TIMAH Tbk strives to restore the ecological functions of post-mining land while ensuring that mining activities remain aligned with environmental conservation and community welfare. (*)
