President Tamás Sulyok received Croatian President Zoran Milanović at Sándor Palace, where they discussed further opportunities for developing cooperation between the two countries. In his press statement after the meeting, the Hungarian Head of State emphasised that Croatia and Hungary are close and important allies.

Continuous economic and political cooperation further strengthens the relationship between the two countries. Economic relations are functioning well in several areas, including investment, trade and tourism. The development of road infrastructure between the two countries also represents significant progress.

President Sulyok emphasised that Croatia is also a key partner for Hungary in terms of energy supply, adding that Hungary's strategy is determined by security of supply, diversification of sources and protection of the interests of Hungarian families.

Dr. Tamás Sulyok stated that our southern neighbour is also an important ally in strengthening NATO's eastern flank. The two Heads of State agreed that the earliest possible accession of the Western Balkan countries to the EU should be supported.

The stability of Hungarian-Croatian good neighbourly relations is based on the two nations' shared responsibility for the fate of national minorities living in their countries. This is why they mutually support the programmes promoting the development of education, culture, sport and religious life, with a view to the interests of those living in the micro-regions along the Drava, on both sides of the border.
